Kimber Architectural Photography Competition

Paul Rapson the professional industrial photographer from Southampton

Paul Rapson , a professional industrial photographer from Southampton, won the 2006 Kimber Architectural Photography Competition, with his image titled 'To The Boardroom'. The judge Ven Dodge commented, “The photograph was an excellent example of an impressive, colourful image with detailed architectural features”.

Paul saw the potential of the shot while shooting an advert for a carpet company. “I knew when I saw the level of detail and my interest in graphic photography that I had something special to photograph.” commented.

Paul is represented by Little Van Gogh a company that specialises in renting pictures to hang in company reception areas and boardrooms across the country.

Highly Commended in the Visions of Science Competition

Professional Photographer Paul Rapson collected an award from Dr Adam Hart-Davis, the well known TV presenter, who was also one of the judges at the Visions of Science Competition. Paul's image of blue ink in water was highly commended in the action section of the competition.
Dr Adam Hart-Davis said: "The variety of subjects and styles was splendid and picking the winners was, as ever, extremely difficult, with different judges noisily championing a particular favourite photograph."Dr Adam Hart-Davis championed Paul's image and though it was not the overall winner was selected for an award. He said "that it was a very simple idea that has produced a beautiful image".
Paul has spent many years as an industrial photographer for many of the local companies and is now splitting his time between supplying the London Science Photo Library, industrial, commercial and architectural photography and producing abstract art photographs with a scientific and graphic bias.

	Southampton photographer wins International Unconventional Photographic
	Paul has enjoyed great success in The 10th International Unconventional Photography Competition held in Poland. He has won two Gold Awards from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for his images - entitled ‘Water Dance’ and ‘Worship’. Water Dance was created after many hours of using Photoshop to adjust the image on the computer; whereas Worship was an absolutely straight photographic shot without any computer manipulation.
	He comments: “Some people still believe that photography is just a matter of pointing a camera and shooting. I believe that photography is really an art form. It requires careful planning, a good imagination and an eye for detail. I put a lot of thought into my photographs, so it is wonderful to have won these awards from Poland, and to know that people appreciate my work.”
